NIGERIAN COACH WINS HIS FIRST TROPHY AS A MANAGER IN A EUROPEAN CLUB

In December 2021, The Nigerian football federation officially replaced German manager Gernot Rohr with Portuguese coach, Jose Peseiro, as head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles. He is to replace the Interim coach, Austin Eguavoen, after the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Many people didn’t like the idea of another foreign coach leading the Super Eagles because Nigeria has many talented coaches doing wonders in and outside Nigeria. Obi Ojimadu is one of them, and he is a life coach, entrepreneur, and football coach based in Ukraine.

He is the coach of Shakhtar Donetsk Under 10 and 12 teams, and he celebrated his first medal and trophy with the team. According to him, they ended the season with a bang, but it didn’t come easy.

Obi who’s been with the team for a while said it took teamwork and the ability to work together with a common vision to win the trophy. He helped the youngsters direct their talents towards the team’s objectives, and it worked out, as it yielded an uncommon result.

Coincidentally, he worked with another Nigerian, Ogaga Oghene, who he also appreciated in his post, to get the best out of the team. This just shows that Nigerian coaches can achieve the best results if they get ample opportunities.

Congratulations to coach Obi and Shakhtar. Do you think Nigeria should trust more Nigerian coaches or keep depending on the foreign coaches?
