EFCC Agents Storm PDP Primary Election Venue

Some officers of the Economic Financial Crime Commission have just stormed the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abuja, the venue of the People’s Democratic Party primary election.

The officers arrived the venue around 4:40pm but the purpose of their visit is unknown.

Atiku, Wike, Others Go For Broke

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has resolved to go ahead with its presidential primary election today (Saturday).

The opposition party had earlier held an emergency meeting of its National Working Committee in a bid to examine the likelihood of rescheduling its national convention slated for today.

Some members of the party had argued that the extension of the deadline for the conclusion of party primaries across the country by INEC may have been done to favor APC.

Lagos Senator Wins APC Returning Ticket In Ogun

Lagos West Senator, Olamilekan Adeola, has won the All Progressives Congress ticket for Ogun West Senatorial district of Ogun State.

Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, polled 294 votes to defeat his main rival and incumbent Senator representing the zone, Tolu Odebiyi, who scored zero.

Adeola was announced winner of the APC Senatorial primary held at Orona Hall, Ilaro, the Headquarters of Yewa South Local Government Area of the state.

The Lagos West Senator recently relocated to the state and joined Ogun West Senate race, in a sweeping movement tagged “West2West Agenda.

Osinachi Nwachukwu’s Family Announces Burial Dates

The family of gospel musician, Osinachi Nwachukwu, has fixed June 25, 2022, for her burial.

The singer, who shot into the limelight with the hit “Ekwueme“, which has been viewed 72 million times on YouTube, died in an Abuja hospital on April 8.

The 42-year-old songstress was a lead singer at the Dunamis International Gospel Centre.

Aliero Withdraws From Kebbi APC Senatorial Race

Barely hours to theAll Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election in Kebbi State, Adamu Aliero (APC-Kebbi central), has withdrawn from the senatorial race scheduled for Saturday.

This is contained in a statement personally signed by the lawmaker and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital on Saturday.

A three-time governorship candidate in Ogun State, Gboyega Isiaka and a three-time member of the House of Representatives, Abiodun Akinlade, appears to have ceded the Ogun West senatorial ticket to the Lagos West Senator, Olamilekan Adeola.

Adeola had picked the nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to vie for the Ogun West senatorial seat, even while still representing Lagos West.

This has since generated issues between Adeola and the likes of Isiaka and Akinlade, who also obtained the Ogun West senatorial forms under the same party.

On different occasions, Isiaka had dragged Adeola, describing him as a non-indigene plotting to hijack what does not belong to him.

The 25 presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress are awaiting the return of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), from Equatorial Guinea today (Saturday) for direction on the party’s primary.

It was also learnt that there was anxiety among the aspirants over alleged plans to impose former President Goodluck Jonathan as the candidate of the party.

A Federal High Court in Bayelsa State had on Friday ruled that Jonathan was eligible to contest the 2023 presidential election.

At least 31 people have reportedly died during a stampede at the Port Harcourt Polo Club while rushing to get giveaways from Kings Assembly International Church’s Free shopping programme.

The programme is aimed at helping the less privileged in society.

Eyewitnesses said thousands of people gathered at the venue as early as 2.000am and were trying to force their way into the premises resulting in a stampede and deaths.

The programme, titled ‘Shop for Free,’ was organized to help the less privileged get gifts and other items free of charge.

As of the time of filing this report, over 3o dead bodies have been counted so far, including a pregnant lady and three children.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, among other presidential aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party are now in a battle of dollars splash on delegates, voting at today’s crucial presidential primary in Abuja.

SaharaReporters learnt that each delegate at the special convention had been given over $50,000 bribe to sway their votes in favour of particular aspirants.

No fewer than 811 delegates are expected to decide the fate of the PDP presidential aspirants in the ongoing convention.

The 811 delegates of the party consist of one national delegate elected from each of the 774 local government areas and one special delegate per state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from among persons living with disabilities.

Top sources informed SaharaReporters on Saturday that Atiku, Wike, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, were competing in the splash of thousands of dollars on the delegates and it was only a matter of highest bidder.
