PASTOR KUMUYI CLEARS MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT WOMEN COVERING THEIR HAIR IN THE CHURCH

In a recent bible study program, Pastor WF Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church globally, dispels myths about hair covering in the church. While it is undeniable that women are supposed to cover their hair while praying and prophesying in church, the man of God gave more light on the subject. He read from the book of 1 Corinthians 11: 5 which says

” Every woman that prayeth and prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head; for that is even all one as if she were shaven”

According to Church Gist, the man of God, on the other hand, related a story of a woman who came to church with her hair exposed. We rush outside as church leaders and give her a scarf to cover her hair. We don’t know if she is born again; we don’t know if she understands prayer; we don’t know if she understands prophecy; but we keep her outside and tell her that she must cover her hair before entering.

That could make it more difficult for them to be rescued and understand God’s word. They have no idea how to pray or prophesy, so all we ask them to do is cover their heads. It is absolutely correct, but it may be offensive to them. If a lady feels mistreated, she may decide not to return to that church. We drive a lot of people away, according to the man of God, because we don’t know how to place the word of God. This should not be the case.

Finally, when making critical judgments, it is critical that we grasp God’s word. In the church, as well as during prayer and prophecy, women must cover their heads.
