On Friday, Vanguard reported that heavily armed BNG gunmen attacked military troops conducting Excercise Golden Dawn in Abia State. While the troops were able to neutralize one of the gunmen and capture another, the rest fled abandoning their weapons and vehicle
According to Daily Post, in a video which it obtained, General Orji and his cohorts who could be seen looting a shop and a filling station threatened that they would declare Biafra a Republic, and sabotage the Anambra gubernatorial election scheduled to hold on November 6. In the same video, they also revealed that they were battle-ready and on their way to release Mrs. Onyekachi Orji the wife of General Orji who has been in prison for over a decade. It is believed that the group shot the video a few hours before they attacked the military on Thursday.

1. Place A Bounty On The Head Of The Group’s Leader
All over the world and even in Nigeria, this method has proven to be very helpful in apprehending the worst of criminals over the years. The federal government should make an offer of a good reward to anyone who can capture or give useful information that will lead to the arrest of Gen. Orji. It can be argued that with General Orji who is the mastermind of BNG out of the equation, the group will be like a sheep without a shepherd and in no time collapse. I believe that with the right ‘motivation’ Gen Orji will be rattled out and the threat which he and his group pose will be neutralized
2. Proscribe BNG A Terrorist Organization
According to the definition of terrorism in the Oxford dictionary and the Global Terrorism Database, anyone who engages in an unlawful act of intimidation and violence against a civilian population to achieve a political objective can be classified as a terrorist. As far as this definition is concerned, BNG can and should be classified as a terrorist organization. In BNG’s quest to achieve Biafra, they have reigned terror on innocent civilians, threatened to sabotage a governorship election, and have also threatened to remove all the Nigeria flag in the southeast region which they describe as Biafra land. They have also outrightly waged war against the Nigerian government
Prescribing the BNG as a terrorist group will empower the military to deploy its full arsenal against the group and eradicate the threat in no time. What do you think?
