African is a continent that’s blessed with so many natural resources, including diamonds and gold.
We’ll be looking at three African countries where you can find diamonds, and two African countries with Gold.
1. Ivory Coast
This west African country is blessed with diamonds, and most of these diamonds are found in the Northern part of the country.
Some of the areas where diamonds can be found in Ivory Coast are dominated by rebels, and this has caused several clashes between rival groups.
2. Sierra Leone
This African country has a large deposit of diamond, and it is mainly found in the Eastern part of the country. Diamond fields in Sierra Leone cover about 7,700 square miles.
In 1972, a 969.8 carat (194 g) diamond was found in Sierra Leone. At that time, it was the third-largest diamond in the world until a 1,098 carat diamond was discovered in Botswana.
3. Botswana
This country is among the top African countries where diamonds can be found, and there are about seven well-established mines in the country.
There’s reportedly a large deposit of diamonds in the South-Central of Botswana.
Two African countries where Gold can be found
South Africa
This country is richly blessed with Gold, and it was the leading African country in gold mining.
There are presently different gold mines in the country. It is important you know that this country is also richly blessed with diamonds.
Ghana
This country is one of the top African countries where Gold can be found. There’s reportedly a large deposit of Gold in the Southern part of Ghana. In 2019, Ghana overtook South Africa as the top African with Gold after mining more than 142 metric tonnes of the precious metal.
Apart from the countries mentioned here, there are other African countries where gold and diamonds can be found. However, most of the other African countries have them in small quantities.
