MEET THE TRIBE THAT MIGRATED FROM NIGERIA THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO.

The Bantu people remained one of the largest tribes in Africa, as they spread across many African countries thousands of years ago. The majority of Bantu people are farmers, hunters, and pastoralists.

According to their claims, their forefathers migrated from West Africa, specifically modern-day Nigeria and parts of Cameroon, nearly 3000 years ago.

Now, these people account for at least 85 million of the African population, and their language is widely spoken in some countries, such as South Africa, Gabon, Zambia, Congo, Angola, Dr Congo, and so on.

Bantu people speak the Niger-Congo language just like Yoruba, Igbo, and Benin too speak Niger-Congo. The majority of these people practice traditional, Christian, and Islamic religions.

Although there were no specific reasons why Bantu people migrated from their original homeland, according to their history, there are some claims that Bantu people left West Africa in search of farmland and many resources to make up their iron business.

Not only that, but there are some other claims too that Bantu people migrated out of West Africa to save their lives and their properties, because of the constant attacks from other neighbouring tribes who are more powerful than them.

Which tribe do Bantu people migrate from in Nigeria?

According to their history, the Bantu don’t mention any tribe in Nigeria or in Cameroon as their origin. But they are very sure that the southern part of Nigeria and some parts of Cameron are their original homelands.

However, many people believe that Bantu people may have very strong ties with many southern tribes in Nigeria, such as the Yoruba, Igbo, and Benin, because Bantu speak the same family of languages which is known as Niger-Congo with them.
