5 FOODS YOU SHOULD NOT EAT BEFORE BEDTIME

Dinner or supper is the name given to evening meals. Evening meals should be taken at or before 8pm according to experts. Any other meals after main dinner should be light snacks or fruits to avoid challenges such as: 

1. Frequent urination in the night

2. Constipation

3. Bedwetting in children and so on.

However, there are some foods that should be avoided when you are eating dinner close to bedtime. Below are some of the foods you can avoid eating at night.

1. Eba (Gari)

Eba is an heavy meal that may take long to digest, it can also lead to constipation when you sleep immediately after eating.

2. Pap (agidi or eko)

Agidi can make you visit the toilet several times because of its high water content. It may also cause bedwetting in children if it is eaten close to bedtime.

3. Bread

Bread when consumed late at night may not digest easily and therefore lead to constipation the following day.

4. Pounded yam

Just like bread, pounded yam is heavy and can make one fall asleep easily. It may not digest compared to when it is eaten in the afternoon during the time the body will be able to process the food.

5. Pepper soup

There may be need to drink excess liquid (water) after eating pepper soup. In other words, it may result to frequent visits to the toilet.

In conclusion, the above foods are the writer suggestions but you may need to consider light meals when you are eating your dinner close to bedtime so as to prevent constipation and frequent visits to the toilet in the night.
