GOD ’EMBARRASSED’ US WITH FIVE KIDS AFTER WAITING FOR SIX YEARS –LAGOS COUPLE

When Foyeke Omage became pregnant early 2020 after six years in marriage, she never anticipated a set of twins let alone five kids at once. But in what she described as a miracle, she said God embarrassed her and her husband, Ewanle Omage, with a set of quintuplets after waiting for six years without a child.

The couple, in an exclusive interview with The PUNCH, narrated how they were mocked during their waiting period before their bundles of joy were delivered at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital on January 18, 2021.

“People used to call me barren before, they used to insult me but I thank God today that God embarrassed me with five babies at a go –two boys, three girls. What else can I ask from God? I really thank God for these great gifts that He gave to me,” Foyeke enthused.

Foyeke, who hails from Osun State, said she got married to Ewanle, who is a native of Edo State, in 2014 and they had gone to many hospitals and had met many gynecologists all to no avail.

The Lagos-based wife said when she and her husband thought all hope was lost, God showed up in 2020 shortly before the lockdown.

“I got married 2014, we waited for six years plus. During the period of our waiting for the fruit of the womb, a lot of things happened. In fact, some people insulted me. On several occasions, I was embarrassed but I thank God today that God embarrassed me with five babies at once.

“When I first ran a pregnancy test, I saw it was positive. I was like God! Then as time goes on, I went to the laboratory to run an (ultrasound) scan and from there they discovered that I carried four babies.

“I was very happy and at the same time, I thought of how I would take care of four babies at a go because of the financial situation of the family. I called my husband and told him. He was like, ‘How are we going to do it?’ I said, ‘Well, God is on the throne, He will see us through’.

“To my surprise, when I went there (laboratory) again the next day, they ran another scan and discovered I had five babies,” Foyeke told The PUNCH.

On his part, a joyful Ewanle thanked God and appreciated the doctors as well as nurses at LASUTH, Ikeja. He also appealed to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki; and their Osun State counterpart, Gboyega Oyetola; to come the aid of the family in caring for the babies.
